Pink Ivory Makeup

This is the skin tint from Nars, especially formulated for normal to oily skinned girls, with a buildable medium coverage… so, a foundation.

A Nars é a minha marca favorita do momento.

Nars is my favourite brand of the moment. I’m dying for its arrival in Portugal but I have to restrain myself so that I can buy everything I want with a Sephora discount. Even still, I decided to grab this foundation online for the spring, knowing that I usually suck at colour matching.

Nars claims: “This oil-free formula wears comfortably, maintaining your skin’s natural moisture barrier while working to control shine throughout the day. Transparent Blurring Powders help to blur the look of imperfections and skin tone, while smoothing the appearance of pores and fine lines. The powders’ unique, spherical shape compresses like a cushion, delivering a velvety-smooth, touchable feel and superior comfort on application. Vitamins C, E, and broad spectrum SPF 30 protect against free-radical damage caused by environmental stress. Just touch and go for an effortlessly perfected look”.

Pouca quantidade faz a diferença, acreditem.

The first impression that I had was that it had too much coverage for my taste. I applied it with a Beauty Blender and it settled on my pores and peach fuss. You could clearly see that I had a cake on my face. I really wanted a tint and this is a foundation. I left it to the side since I didn’t want to get it dirty before taking my photos for the blog post.

After a month, I put it in my bag so that I could properly test it out. I got the shade 01 Finland, the second lightest in the range and suited for neutral to warm skin tones, but be aware because it oxidizes a bit.

A little goes a long way. I need to really work it in with my hands, almost like applying a face cream, but the finish is was I wanted: natural and matte. The problem is that by lunch time it’s settle on my pores and lines and by the end of the day it separated on my nose and chin and emphasizes dry patches that I didn’t know I had.

Nars Skin Tint 01 Finland | Tarte Water Foundation Fair Neutral | Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation 02

I was disappointed with this product, especially when it costed me 38€. Although I like the end result right after the application, this is not the typical skin tint with sun protection that you can wear every day and not worry with retouches.

Maybelline makes my favourite mascaras: The Rocket Volume Express and the Lash Sensational. Since this brand has so many other mascaras, I decided to test some out to find more hidden gems.

Colossal Go Chaotic – A pior de todas. (6,99€ aqui!)

Colossal Go Chaotic – The worst of all. This does nothing to my lashes! It doesn’t volumize, lengthen or curve my eyelashes. Its only purpose is to make my lashes darker. This is the third Colossal that I buy in the last 10 years and it looks like I never learn my lesson. (6,99€ here!)

Volume Express The Falsies – Esta valeu apena. (4,99€ aqui!)

Volume Express The Falsies – This one is worth it. It’s the cheapest of the bunch and the one that gave me more volume and a better curve in a natural way. I’ve seen so many versions of the Falsies, but this is the first one that I buy so I have no idea if there is a big difference between them. I can tell you that this one is amazing especially considering the price. (4,99€ here!)

(7,99€ aqui!)

Lash Sensational Voluptuous – I love this one. This is the only silicone brush and it has a point shape that loads product on my lashes with a single stroke. It gives more volume and curve than the other ones and lasts the entire day, but I believe that it’s not for everyone. This mascara leaves the lashes completely suck together, and if you’re no careful it will leave some “bit” behind. I’m always cautious when I apply it and I can’t even think about second layers because it always ends in disaster. (7,99€ here!)

About 2/3 years ago, Whirl was just a lip pencil that came into the spotlight because Kylie Jenner claimed that she was using it to over line her lips. Whirl was such a bestseller after it, that MAC turned it into a lipstick, just like the also well-known Stone (a greyish brown).

After the release, I would walk in a MAC store every week with the purpose of getting the new lipstick, only to end leaving after hearing an “it’s sold out”. I ended up reserving it, and until this day, I’m still waiting for someone to call to inform me that my Whirl is in store… (I think that the MAC girl was so sick of seeing my face that she figured that this was the only way to get rid of me).

I got it on the airport. I made a list on my phone of goodies to grab on duty free and this lipstick was right at the top. I waited more than a month to photograph it thou, since when I had the time to do it there was no light to take some decent pictures of my baby Whirl.

When I was finally in the middle of my photo session, I dropped it to the floor! I cried for 3 hours, ate toast with Nutella and watched 3 Grey’s Anatomy episodes hugging my cat (he only let me do it because he was dead asleep), just to get over the trauma.

Dramas to the side, this colour is a simple medium brown with a warm touch. The formula mate keeps it in place but it’s always comfortable. I love using a very thin layer of it applied with short strokes. It looks very natural and less “90’s lips” that way.

I like the result too even when applied with its full potential. It is as if it turns my eyes and hair a warmer brown. Nevertheless, I have to confess that if I don’t hide the redness on my nose and chin I can’t pull it off.

The weirdest part is that Teddy Bear from Milani is a cream version of Whirl, and I can’t stand that colour! It’s like I stole my grandma’s lipstick and decided to wear it! The only liquid lipstick that I own that comes close to Whirl is Celebrity Skin from Jeffree Star. I could swear that I had a dupe in my Wet n Wild collection, but the only 2 shades that come close are so different: Mochalicious is too red and Sandstorm is too orange.

O que acham deste batom? Já o têm? Ficaram curiosas em o comprar? Têm algum parecido?

What do you think of this lipstick? Do you own it? I Do you want to get it? Do you own anything like it?

As soon as I heard the wonders that Jaclyn Hill sad about this palette on Snapchat, I knew that it was going to be mine. I had to wait a little for it to be available on Maquillalia, but I grabbed it when I had an opportunity.

It’s gold and highly “finger printy”. It’s pretty light weight and has a magnetic closure that matches the sleek packaging. Inside we have 4 highlighters, 3 in a powder form and a cream one.

Ecliptic is the cream. It is creamy without being oily, nevertheless it takes time to dry. At first sight, it blends onto my skin tone reflecting the light in a natural way… but on direct sunlight, we can clearly see that it is too dark for me. Honestly, I don’t like creams surrounded by powders, especially when the powders become dust when touched with a fan brush.

Hemisphere is a light purple. It’s that pink highlighter that looks better has a blush topper. I don’t even touch it, not only for the colour, but because it is the most glittery highlight in the palette.

Subsolar is a light yellow shade. This was the highlight that I was the most curious about since I like pale highlighters with a warm touch… However, this one disappointed me. It’s too dry and has almost no coverage, not to mention that it doesn’t warm up the face at all. It’s just a discrete glow.

Equinox is the star of the show. It’s a peach with a soft and highly metallic texture. On the skin it looks almost wet, perfect for that “JLo glow”.

Highlighter and blush palettes always have this problem in my opinion: some of the products are good and others are just there to occupy some space, since the brands tend to cater to a big range of skin tones.

Still, I can tell you that for the price, this palette is one of the best out there: 4 highlighters totally different from each other that last for 7/8 hours, that show up on the skin and come in a resistant packaging that is totally Instagram worthy… all of that for 12,99€.

Birchbox is one of the most famous monthly subscription boxes of the United States. Here, unfortunately, we have no accessibility but I was able to grab one when I was in England.

On Selfridges, we have a Birchbox counter where we can make our own personalized box. We can pick 5 products from 5 different categories: makeup, skincare, hair, body and an extra bonus (like a mirror or a sharpener). All of the products are stored like candy in a store and we can walk around them with a box in hand picking them up.

On the makeup department, I picked 2 products. Let’s be real, makeup is practically the only category that I care about… so I chose the famous foundation primer from Maura Mercier and a mascara form Mirenesse that I didn’t even opened yet.

Mirenesse ICurl Secret Weapon 24hr Mascara | Laura Mercier Foundation Primer

My cousin made me get the shower gel from Korres with the Santorine Vine scent, since it is her favourite. I also grabbed the Oribe texturizing spray that is pretty well known on Youtube, because of if efficiency and high price tag.

Oribe Dry Texturing Spray | Korres Santorini Vine Shower Gel

I could not leave without the Pore Dermabrasion from Dr. Brandt, A home peeling that leaves the skin feeling like a baby’s butt. I seriously hope that I do not get too attached to this product because the mini size own be able to satisfy me for long.

The good part of shopping on days with promotions was that Birchbox was offering a 6th product. I chose the Starskin Smoothing Bio-Cellulose Second Skin Eye Masks, an eye mask with a long and fancy name.

This box was 13€ and the mini size of the Laura Mercier primer is worth much more than that. If you are going to London, than don’t forget to go to the Birchbox counter and make your own box!

I made another order from ColourPop, but this time I left the liquid lipsticks behind and decided to try out some Lippie Pencils.

I have uneven lips, even more so with I apply a dark or vibrant lipstick and then proceed to stare at me mirror contemplating to invest on some of that Kylie Jenner botox. Until I do not have balls and budget for that I have to use the more traditional method: lip liners.

I heard that these were creamy and long lasting, but what really sold me was the colour range. I ordered 3: Oh Snap (pinky nude), Creature (a dark red that was recently discontinued), and Bull Chic (a black that I can truly say that is unique in my collection).

These are good! They’re really soft, pigment, even, last for hours on the lips and never become uncomfortable. The only thing that disappointed me was that I had in my head that they were retractable. That daydream of me keeping them on my bag for weeks and not having to worry about sharpening was completely shattered.

Bull Chic | Creature | Oh Snap

Even so, these are so worth the 5$ that ColourPop asks for, the problem is that they are not worth the shipping price of the stress with costumes charges.

Makeup Geek is my favorite eyeshadow brand. There is nothing to it! These shadows are phenomenal: Soft, pigmented and blend themselves.

The mattes are the ones that I love to use the most. It doesn’t matter if you have 2 or 20 in your eyes, they blend so nicely that you can’t tell where one starts and ends. The foiled ones are also incredible. Although they are more expensive, they are like a “oily pigment” with an intense shine and no fallout.

I’m always anxious for a reason to grow my collection that is currently divided in 3 Z Palettes, and so today I going to show you my last Beauty Bay order with Makeup Geek eyeshadows.

Typhoon | Starry Eyed | Venon | Ritzy | Houdini | Wild West
Duochrome with a teal base with green and gold reflects.

Houdini – Azul-turquesa escuro com acabamento foiled. Deep emerald teal green with a foiled finish.
Wild West – Castanho quente com acabamento mate. Rich rose brown with a matte finish.

Pillow Talk | Confection | Petal Pusher | Cupcake | Friend Zone | Brownie Points | Vintage | Corrupt
Soft lilac with a silver shift and a shimmery finish.
Blush pink with very subtle gray undertones and a matte finish.
Petal Pusher – Rosa medico com base castanha e acabamento mate. Medium rose brown with a matte finish.
Cupcake – Rosa médio mate. Matte medium pink.
Friend Zone – Castanho acinzentado de acabamento mate. Dusty purple brown with a matte finish.
Cool milk chocolate with a matte finish.
Medium brown with mauve undertones and a matte finish.
Intense matte black with a very subtle sparkle.

Is anyone converted to this Makeup Geek magic yet? No matter how much I love this brand, I’m a bit sick of BeautyBay raising their prices time, and time again. I'm more than ready for MUG to be sold in other more accessible online stores.

With this Black Mask epidemic that contaminated my Facebook, I decided to place a small order from my favourite Korean site: BeautyNetKorea. If you want to try out some new Korean brands that Sephora started carrying last years, then check that site out to save up.

This time I found the Blackhead Out set of 2 products from The Face Shop to extract black heads, one in a cream form and another in nose strips, for less than 5€.

The cream is made with white clay and that’s pretty much the only thing that I know about the ingredients since everything else is in Korean. This product feels just like glue, it’s thick, gooey and sticky. You apply an even layer across the nose and wait for about half an hour until it dries. When it comes the time to peel it off, it doesn’t hurt (much)… and it doesn’t really gets any gunk out.

The strips version is a bit better. The pack comes with 7 nose strips with charcoal that are applied to a damp nose. You let it dry for 20 minutes and voilá. It takes more dirt than the cream version, but not as much as it should.

I would say that the only good thing about the cream version is that it sticks to the sides of the nose much better and has many more uses left than the only 7 strips aloow. But if it doesn’t clean anything what’s the point?

Have you surrendered to these oriental products yet? Or are they just gimmicks in your opinion?
