A luta que foi comprar esta base.

Eu adoro corretores. Para mim não há nada melhor do que umas gotas de corretor para disfarçar olheiras, vermelhão ou aquela borbulhinha. Então quando vi esta menina da Clinique de alta cobertura que podia ser usada como base ou corretor, eu fiquei rendida.

Comprei a minha primeira Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation na Perfumes & Companhia online em Agosto do ano passado. A cor mais clara que há à venda é a 06 Ivory, o número deixou-me nervosa, pois indica que existem pelo menos 5 outras cores mais claras que não estam à venda em Portugal, mas como o nome da cor já me é familiar eu decidi arriscar.

It was a struggle to get this Foundation.

I love concealer. There is nothing better to keep in your purse than a concealer to you can hide under eye darkness, redness or imperfections. Therefore, when I saw this high coverage baby from Clinique that could be used as a foundation or a concealer, I was completely sold.

I got my first Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation at Perfumes & Companhia last August. The lightest shade available was 06 Ivory, the number scared me because apparently there are five other lighter shades that are not for sale in Portugal, but since the name was familiar, I decided to take a chance.

Assim que recebi a base em casa eu nem precisei de a abrir. Dava para ver claramente que precisava de 2 meses nas caraíbas para a conseguir usar. Agarrei no meu recibo e fui a caminho da primeira Perfumes & Companhia para pedir a devolução. Foi então aí que temi pelos meus 29,08€ que gastei na base. Havia a informação no meu recibo que era possível devolver os produtos desde que não fossem usados, mas nós todas sabemos que as funcionárias das lojas contam outra história. E claro está, mal solicitei a devolução no balcão recebi logo a resposta do costume: “nós só fazemos trocas e é por produtos de igual valor ou superior”.

Mostrei-lhes a frase que provava o contrário no meu recibo, e depois seguiu-se 20 minutos de espera enquanto elas ligavam para a sede. Finalmente confirmaram-me o que eu já esperava, a loja online era nova e ainda não havia um método de devoluções estabelecido. Deixei o meu NIB e a base na loja, com a esperança que passado umas semanas recebe-se a transferência.

Dia 11 de Agosto pedi a devolução, dia 26 mandei um email para a loja online com muitas palavras a negrito e passado meia hora já tinha o comprovativo da transferência.

As soon as I received the foundation I could clearly see that it was the wrong shade. I needed a two-month vacation on the Caribbean to be able to wear it. I grabbed my receipt and went to the closest Perfumes & Companhia to ask for a return. That was when I feared for the 29.08€ that I spent on it. There was a line in my invoice that stated that I could get a return as long as I didn’t use the product, but we all know the usual lines of the store employees. Of course, that just as I asked for the return I got the usual response: “We can only exchange it for another product”.

I showed the phrase on my receipt that proved them wrong, and then 20 minutes waiting followed while the girls on the counter called the main office. They confirmed what I was expecting: the online store was brand new and they didn’t know how to process the returns yet. I left the foundation and my bank information on the store with the hope that they would transfer my money back sooner rather than later.

On August 11^th I asked for the return, on the 26^th I sent an email to the store complaining and half an hour later I got an answer with a proof of payment.

Três meses depois perdi o medo e encomendei na LookFantastic a cor 02 Alabaster por 29.71€, e mesmo assim ainda é escura em mim, mas já não tinha mais paciência para trocas.

Quando estou mais pálida tenho que aplicar uma camada leve e não me posso esquecer do pescoço, mas agora que tenho mais cor na pele, consigo fazer o que eu queria desde o inicio, aplicar o mínimo possível nas olheiras, à volta do nariz e queixo, depois esbato com com um pincel sintético ou com os dedos. Fica super natural e dura 7 horas até que começa a separar-se um bocadinho. Quando saio do trabalho, e se estiver com vontade, meto umas pintinhas de corretor nas zonas que precisam de cobertura e durante o resto da noite não me chateio mais.

Espalha-se facilmente, o aplicador é preciso e ajuda-nos a aplicar apenas o essencial, e a fórmula tem aquele meio-termo de “não é mate nem é oleosa” que combina com a minha pele mista.

Não sei porque é que a Clinique tem 27 cores diferentes nesta base, mas mesmo assim a segunda mais clara é escura demais para mim. Adorava experimentar a Superbalanced ou a Stay-Matte Oil-Free Makeup, mas fiquei com medo de errar outra vez na cor.

Three months later I lost my fear and order from LookFantastic the shade 02 Alabaster for 29.71€, and guess what? That one is still a bit too dark for me, but I was out of patience for another return.

When I’m at my palest I have to apply a thin layer and I can’t forget my neck, but now that I have a little bit of colour on me, I can do what I wanted since the begging. I use the smallest amount on my under eyes and around my mouth and nose, and I blend it away with a synthetic brush or with fingers. It looks natural and it lasts 7 hours until it starts to separate a bit. When I leave work, and if I’m up for it, I dot a small amount of concealer on the areas that need coverage and it stays there for the rest of the night.

It blends easily, the applicator is precise, it’s easy to control the amount of product wasted and the formula is a “not too oily, no to matte” mix that is perfect for my combination skin.

I don’t know why Clinique made 27 different shades of this foundation but the second to lightest is still too dark for me. I would love to try out the Superbalanced Foundation or the Stay-Matte Oil-Free Makeup, but I’m scared of missing my colour again.

Sempre ouvi falar maravilhas da base Este Lauder Double Wear. Dizem que é perfeita para peles oleosas, que não se mexe o dia inteiro e que dá uma cobertura fenomenal… mas claro está, não é para todos os gostos.

I have always heard amazing things about Este Lauder Double Wear Foundation. They say that it’s perfect for oily skin, it doesn’t move and it has an incredible coverage… but of course, not everyone loves it.

Eu comprei-a por impulso no verão passado. Foi numas daquelas tardes em que sentimos a necessidade de gastar dinheiro à toa, e para ajudar a minha situação, tinha acabado de ver uma publicidade no facebook sobre a nova loja online da Perfumes & Companhia com direito a promoções.

I got it by impulse last summer. It was one of those afternoons where you feel the need to buy anything at all, and to make things worse, I had just seen a Facebook add about the new Perfumes & Companhia online store.

Fiz uma pesquisa no google para tentar descobrir a minha cor, já que pelo site não ia chegar a lado nenhum. A Estee Lauder tem um sistema muito interessante para esta base. Nós temos os típicos W, N e C, correspondentes a tons quentes, neutros e frios e um numero que quanto mais baixo for, mais clara é a nossa base (tal como a L’oreal True Match). No entanto ainda temos outro número que indica o grau de pigmento dentro do tom. Por exemplo, as cores 3W1 e 3W2 apesar de serem as terceiras cores mais clara da gama, a primeira é menos quente que a segunda.

Comprei a cor 1N2 Ecru, que se não me falha a memoria, era o tom mais claro à venda no site. Ela é escura demais para mim, mas felizmente espalha-se na perfeição e não ficam suspeitas que tenho a cor errada de base.

I made a Google search to find out my shade, since the site was too confusing and didn’t offer any help. Estee Lauder has a very interesting system for this foundation. We have the typical W, N and C that correspond to warm, neutral and cool tones and a number that defines the shade, (just like the L’oreal True Match). But we also get another number that describes the range of the tone. For example, the shades 3W1 and 3W2 are the third lightest in the range but the first one is less warm than the second one.

I got the 1N2 Ecru, and if I’m not mistaken, it was the lightest shade available. It’s a bit too dark for me, but fortunately I can blend it perfectly and there are no traces that I have the wrong colour.

Ela tem uma cobertura de outro mundo, não tem óleo, fica mate o dia inteiro e não transfere ou desaparece. É realmente uma base para grandes eventos em que queremos estar sem qualquer imperfeição. Se a tivesse que comprar com outra base seria com a Revlon Colourstay para peles oleosas. Elas não só têm características semelhantes como também têm o mesmo perfume.

A parte chata é que não tem pump. Para mim não é um grande problema, já que não a vou usar todos os dias. Muito provavelmente vou estar em casa quando a quiser usar, e ai posso entornar a base que quiser para as mãos. Mas se preferirem a versão mais higiénica e com menos desperdício, podem sempre comprar o dispensador da MAC. Ele cabe na perfeição e custa cerca de 5€.

É uma base de culto por uma boa razão, mas se vocês têm pele seca, ou se preferem algo natural então fujam. Não há nada a fazer porque esta base é visível na pele. Caso estejam na dúvida, experimentem a base da Revlon pois é muito mais baratinha.

This covers like nothing else, it’s oil free, it stays matte for the entire day and it doesn’t transfer or disappears. It’s truly a foundation for the days where you what to look flawless. If I had to compare it with another foundation, I would that that the Revlon Colourstay for normal to oily skin is a close dupe. Not only it preforms similarly, but it also has the same scent.

The tricky part is that we don’t get a pump. That does not bother me really, since I don’t plan on using it every day. I’ll probably just use it at home where I can drop foundation on my hands without any care. However, if you prefer a more hygienic version with less waste, you can always grab a pump from MAC. It fits perfectly and it costs around 5€.

It’s a cult product for a reason, nevertheless, If you have dry skin, or if you prefer a more natural look than stay away. This foundation is visible on the skin and there’s nothing you can do about it.
