Pink Ivory Makeup: outubro 2016

Sempre tive curiosidade em experimentar as sombras da Make Up For Ever, mas o preço das pans individuais é extremamente exagerado e nunca achei as palettes deles particularmente interessantes... Até que calhou o dia em que tinha um cupão de 20% de desconto para gastar e lá encontrei esta gema naquelas torres no meio da Sephora. Chama-se Artist Eye Duo e é composta por 9 sombras, 1 lápis e uma mascara de pestanas.

I've always wanted to try out the eyeshadows from Make Up For Ever, but the individual pans are really overpriced and I’ve never found any palette from them interesting enough to buy... Until it came the day that I had a fresh 20% off coupon to use and I saw this palette on those towers in the middle of Sephora. It’s called Artist Eye Duo and it comes with 9 shadows, 1 eyeliner and a mascara.

Começando pelo mais importante, as sombras! Não temos um único mate, mas o preto e o castanho-escuro estão lá perto com um acabamento satin. Não me importo muito com isso, pois são em ocasiões como esta que dou valor a palettes como a Naked Basics, a Stila Mind e a Shadow + Light Eye Contour da Kat Von D.

Os shimmers foram sem dúvida a razão pela qual eu comprei este menino. Têm um pigmento incrível, são macias apesar de todo o seu brilho e aderem à pele durante o dia todo. Como devem imaginar, aquele azul turquesa ainda está intacto mas todas as outras cores já estão bem amadas. Aquele azul/verde/taupe/castanho do canto interior (ME-302) é qualquer coisa de fantástico.

Starting with the most important thing, the eyeshadows! We don’t have a single matte, but the black and the dark brown come close enough with a satin finish. I don’t mind that at all, since it’s on times like these that I cherish my all mate palettes like the Naked Basics, the Stila Mind and the Shadow + Light Eye Contour da Kat Von D.

The shimmers are without a doubt the only reason that I got this set. They have an amazing pigment, they’re soft even with all that shine and they stick to the skin all day. Like you can imagine, that turquoise blue is intact but all the other shades are very well loved. That blue/green/taupe/brown on the bottom corner (ME-302), is something amazing.

O lápis desiludiu-me. Desde que sou miúda sempre sonhei em ter um Aqua Eyes da Make Up For Ever, e olhem que este deixou muito a desejar. É mais preto que preto e é macio, não precisamos de fazer força para aplicar na linha de água ou na pálpebra, mas não é waterproof como a marca admite. Ele transfere que é uma coisa parva! Mais uma prenda de natal para a minha irmã.

Por fim temos a mascara de pestanas Smokey Extravaganza… Ela é boa, mas não é a ultima bolacha do pacote. É bem preta, agarra facilmente às pestanas e deixa-as volumosas, mas as da Maybelline também fazem isso por menos de metade do preço. Vale o que vale.

The eyeliner was a disappointment. Since high school that I want one of the Aqua Eyes from Make Up For Ever, and this one left a lot to be desired. It’s blacker than black and it’s soft, so you don’t need to push hard to get color on the water line or the eye lids, but this is not waterproof like the brand claims it to be. This transfers like crazy! I guess that I’ll just pass on to my sister.

Lastly we get the Smokey Extravaganza mascara… It’s good but it’s not amazing. It’s really black, clings to the lashes and leaves them voluminous, the the ones from Maybelline to the same for less than half the price.

Bem aqui está ela, a famosa Ambient Lighting Palette da Hourglass.

Well here it is, the famous Ambient Lighting Palette from Hourglass.

Quem não conhece, estes são os pós mais falados dos últimos anos. Eles têm a capacidade de iluminar o rosto e disfarçar imperfeições, e ao mesmo tempo, parece que não temos nada na pele.

Comprei o meu primeiro no inicio do ano. Estes meninos não são propriamente baratos, então fiz a maior pesquisa da minha vida para encontrar a cor perfeita. Fiquei-me pela Ethereal Light, a mais clara e menos shimmery de todas (review aqui!). Fiquei completamente obcecada e uso-o praticamente todos os dias.

Começou então a busca da paleta e não desisti enquanto não lhe meti as mãos em cima. A Ambient Lighting Palette tem 3 cores diferentes, Dim Light e Radiant Light, que fazem parte da colecção permanente, e Incandescent Light, uma nova cor de edição limitada. Cada pó tem 3.3 g de produto, ao contrario dos 10 g que vêm na embalagem original, e custa quase o dobro. Ou seja, na minha opinião, acho que só compensa para quem quer testar vários tons dos Ambient Lighting Powders.

For those that don’t know it, these are the most talked about powders of the last couple of wears. They can illuminate and diffuse imperfections, and at the same time, they are invisible on the skin.

I got my first one on the beginning of the year. These powders are not cheap, so I did the biggest research of my life to find the perfect color. I ended up with Ethereal Light, the lightest and less shimmery of all (review here!). I was completely obsessed and I still use it almost every day.

That was when I decided to get the palette and I didn’t give up until it was mine. The Ambient Lighting Palette has 3 different shades, Dim Light and Radiant Light, that are part of the permanent collection, and Incandescent light, a new limited edition shade. Each powder weights 3.3 g, not like the 10 g that come in the original size, and it costs almost the double. Which means that, in my opinion, this palette is only for people that want to test the different shades of the Ambient Lighting Powders.

Quanto ás cores,

Dim Light é um “pêssego neutro que disfarça imperfeições e destaca uma tez radiante com o equilíbrio perfeito de tons quentes e frios”. Quando o vi pela primeira vez não o quis usar no rosto todo pois aparentava ser muito mais brilhante e escuro do que o meu Ethereal. Mas na verdade ele não me escurece a pele, mas sim, a deixa luminosa. Tem partículas brilhantes minúsculas mas que se podem ver sob a luz directa do sol e com um espelho a 2 cm do nariz. Este é o pó da paleta que pode ser usado em todo o rosto. Eu gosto dele mas não é o primeiro pó que agarro para selar a base, já que não tem grandes vantagens nesse departamento. Prefiro o usar em dias em que a minha pele está a precisar de mais vida, ou claro, em ocasiões especiais.

Incandescent Light é definido pela marca como “pérola”. Este é o mais brilhante de todos, e vai ser mais indicado para iluminar a pele e não como pó de acabamento. Gosto muito dele, é aquele “iluminador de noivas”, se é que me entendem. Deixa-me glowy mas só quando a luz reflecte directamente, sem dar ênfase à textura da minha pele.

Radiant Light é um “bege dourado que adiciona calor subtil à tez como o brilho do verão.” Uso-o como se fosse um bronzer. Fico com aquele ar de “apanhei um pouco de sol” sem ficar demasiado laranja ou escura. É super leve e delicado, por isso não sei se meninas com a pele mais morena serão capazes de usar.

The shades,

Dim Light is a “neutral peach that soothes imperfections and highlights a radiant complexion with the perfect balance of warm and cool tones”. When I first saw it I didn’t want to try it on my face since it was much more shimmery and darker than my Ethereal powder. In reality, this powder does not darken up my face but leaves it luminous. It has tiny shimmery particles that are visible under direct sunlight and with a mirror 2 cm of your nose. This is the only powder in this palate that can be used around the whole face. I really like it but it is not the first powder that I grab when I want to set my foundation, since it really has no advantages in that department. I prefer to use in those days that my skin needs a bit of light, or of course, on special occasions.

Incandescent Light is defined by the brand as a “pearl”. This is the highlight of the palette and I love it! it’s that “highlight for brides” that gives you that glow from within. It’s super subtle and doesn’t emphasize any texture that you my have on your skin.

Radiant Light is a “golden beige that adds a subtle warmth to the complexion like the summer shine”. I use it like a bronzer. I get that bit of color on my skin without being to orange. It’s lightweight and delicate, because of that I don’t think that it will work for darker shined girls.

É uma paleta incrível, mas a verdade é: será que preciso mesmo? Acho que me devia ter ficado só pelo primeiro pó que comprei. Apesar de a formula deles ser fenomenal, eu já tenho pó para selar a base, assim como iluminadores e bronzers suficientes. Digamos que as 59£ (que rondam os 80€) podiam ter sido investidas noutras coisas (Xiiiu, não digam ao meu namorado).

It’s an incredible palette, but the truth is: is it really worth the hype? I think that I should’ve stick to the first powder from Hourglass that I’d got. Even though the formula is fenomenal, I already own a all over powder, highlighters and bronzers. Let’s just say that the 59£ (almost 80€) could have been better spent (shhh, don’t tell my boyfriend).

Eu adoro batons líquidos, e adoro ainda mais testar novas fórmulas. Claro algumas vezes levo com uma boa dose de realidade em cima, como foi com os casos da LA Splash, Milani e LA Girl, mas no geral, as experiências positivas compensam as negativas.

Hoje vou vos mostrar uns dos batons líquidos mais mencionados no Instagram e Youtube: os ColourPop Ultra Matte Liquid Lipsticks. Aproveitei e comprei o Foxy Set, composto por 5 best sellers desta gama, em formato mini.

I love liquid lipsticks, and I love even more to test out new formulas. The sad truth is that sometimes a get a big dose of reality, like the cases of LA Splash, Milani and LA Girl, but in general, I get more hits than misses.

Today I am going to show you one of the most talked about liquid lipsticks on Instagram and youtube: the ColourPop Ultra Matte Liquid Lipsticks. I was lucky enough to grab the Foxy Set that contains 5 bestselling shades of this range in a mini size.

O que não me falta cá por casa são batons, sendo por isso muito raro acabar algum. Então sempre que vejo conjuntos deste tipo fico logo obcecada, pois apesar de pequenos sei que lhes posso dar uso sem desperdiçar produto.

Mas na verdade, estes são um bocadinho mais pequenos do que eu estava à espera… Eu pensava que eram parecidos com os que vieram no conjunto da Stila no natal passado (aqui!), mas os batons da ColourPop são muito mais pequenos e fininhos. Eu quis comparar a quantidade mas enquanto os da Stila apresentam o volume da embalagem (como todas as outras marcas de batons líquidos), a ColouPop só apresenta o peso (que neste caso é 1 gr no tamanho mini e 3,2 gr no tamanho original).

I own more than enough lipsticks and the sad truth is that I never finish them, so that is why I love to grab sets like this one. Even though they are small, I can test a bunch of different shades without wasting product.

In reality, these are much smaller than what I was expecting… I thought that they were like the Stila set that I got last Christmas (here!), but the ColourPop lippies are smaller and super thin. I wanted to compared how much product each one carries, but the Stila ones state the volume (just like all the other brands), the ColourPop ones just state the weight (that in this case is 1gr and the original size is 3.2gr).

Quanto à fórmula… Sei que muitas meninas a acham horrivelmente seca, mas eu até gostei! Já ouvi dizer que a ColourPop melhorou os mates depois dos primeiros lançamentos, por isso esta deve ser uma boa fornada. São secos mas confortáveis, têm um aplicador fininho e preciso mas que necessita de ser “molhado” duas vezes para cobrir os meus lábios. Não esfarelam e ficam no lugar.

No entanto, acontece uma coisa super estranha com as 2 cores mais claras, Beeper e Clueless…. Elas mudam de cor. É a coisa mais estranha que já vi! Depois de 3 / 4 horas reparei que tinha a parte interior dos lábios com vestígios de rosa choque. Retirei tudo e deu para ver que a camada de batom em contacto com os meus lábios tinha mudado de cor e apenas a camada superior é que se manteve original. Acho isto super random e ainda não vi ninguém com o mesmo problema.

De resto, penso que valem os seus 6 $ no tamanho individual, ou então os 18 $ que paguei pelo conjunto das 5 cores.

The formula… I know that many girls find it horribly dry but I rather liked it! I heard that ColourPop reformulated their mattes after the first release, so maybe I got a good batch. They are dry but they are comfortable, the applicator is thin and precise but it needs to get “wet” 2 times to completely color in my lips. They do not crumble and stay in place.

However, it happens something weird with the 2 lightest shades, Beeper and Clueless… They change color. It’s the strangest thing I’ve ever seen! After 3 / 4 hours I noticed that the inside part of my lips was turning hot pink. I removed everything and I noticed that the lipstick in contact with my lips had changed color and only the top coat had kept the original shade. I find this so random and I have not heard anyone with the same problem.

Besides that, I think that they are really worth the 6$ for the full size, or the 18$ for this mini set of 5 shades.

Beeper | Clueless | Tulle | More Better | Creeper

Beeper, a cor mais clara, é um nude de base castanha. Clueless (o meu favorito) é aquele rosa mauve muito feminino e badalado do momento. Tulle é um castanho com uma base ligeiramente avermelhada que não se nota muito na foto. More Better (o meu segundo favorito) é aquela cor de framboesa que eu tenho repetida em 5 batons diferentes. Creeper é um vermelho alaranjado.

Beeper, the lightest shade of the collection, is a brown nude. Clueless (my favorite), is that feminine mauve pink that everyone loves. Tulle is a brown with a strong red base that unfortunately the photo did not pick up. More Better (my second fave), is a raspberry color that I love so much and already have in 5 other different lipsticks. Finally, Creeper is an orangy red.

Aposto que fui a ultima blogger, residente na margem sul, a meter os pés na primeira loja da Nyx em Portugal. Deixei passar aquela febre da abertura, e só lá para o fim de Agosto é que resolvi dar uma vista de olhos. Mesmo assim, a loja parece uma Kiko, ou seja, sempre com alguém à frente das bancadas que eu quero investigar, mas eu lá me safei e consegui trazer umas coisinhas novas que me faziam falta e outras que queria experimentar.

I bet that I was the last blogger to step foot on the first ever Nyx store in Portugal. I waited for the fever of the opening to die down a bit, and it was only by the end of August that I decided to go in. Even now, the store looks just like Kiko, and by that I mean that there is always someone in front of the counter that I want to check out. But still, I ended up getting some new things that I was missing and others that I wanted to test out.

Nyx Strobe of Genius Illuminating Palette (17,95€) – Uma paleta de iluminadores super overpriced. Levei-a para a caixa a pensar que era 10€ mais barata do que o seu preço final. A fila de baixo é a minha favorita e a que uso mais, mas foi o lilás que me convenceu a agarrar esta palette. Aviso-vos já que aquele rosa lindíssimo ao lado do dourado bem amarelo é o iluminador mais rasca que já experimentei, não tem qualquer pigmento ou brilho.

Nyx Strobe of Genius Illuminating Palette (17,95€) – A highlight palette highly overpriced. I took it to the checkout counter thinking that it was 10€ cheaper than its final price, lets just say that I was more than disappointed. The bottom row is my favorite and the one that I use the most, but the reason for this purchase was the lilac shade. Just a heads up, the gorgeous pink shade on the top next to the bright yellow gold, is the cheapest highlighter that I’ve ever laid hands on. No pigment or shine what so ever.

Nyx HD Finishing Powder em Translucent (9,90€) – O meu Stay Matte da Rimmel estava a necessitar de um substituto e este foi o elegido. É um pó mate, que não tem nada de translucido apesar de esse ser o seu nome. É fino e macio, mas deixa um resido branco para trás, não me sela o corretor tão bem como o da Rimmel e eu já referi que é branco? Meh…

Nyx HD Finishing Powder in Translucent (9,90€) – My Stay Matte powder from Rimmel was in need of a replacement and this was the chosen one. It’s a mate powder, that is everything but translucent even though that’s its name. It’s fine and soft, but it leaves a white cast behind, it doesn’t settle my concealer as well as the Rimmel one, and did I mentioned that it’s white? Meh…

Nyx Micro Brow Pecil (8,90€) – Quando o meu Automatic Eyebrow Pencil da Kiko, o primeiro e único lápis de sobrancelhas que tinha usado até à data, estava a chegar ao fim, eu resolvi testar este, já que muitas meninas admitem adorá-lo. Bem, que diferença! Este é super fininho e pigmentado, enquanto que o outro que adoro, tem uma ponta enorme e preenche a sobrancelha levemente. Confesso que não gosto assim tanto deste, não só demoro mais tempo a fazer as sobrancelhas mas também consigo ver o lápis a chegar ao fim depois de 2 meses de utilização (o da Kiko durou 7/8 meses).

Nyx Micro Brow Pecil in Chocolate (8,90€) – When my Automatic Eyebrow Pencil form Kiko, the first and only eyebrow pencil that I’ve tried so far, was sadly coming to an end, I decided to test out this one since many girls swear by it. Wow what a diference! This one is super fine and pigmented, and the Kiko one that I love has a tip 10 times bigger that lightly fills in the eyebrow. I confess that I don’t like this one as much, not only do I take longer in the morning to do my eyebrows, I also can see this product lasting only 2 months (and the Kiko one lasted me 7/8).

Nyx Butter Gloss em Creme Brulee (5,90€) – Eu não gosto de glosses, mas era o fim do verão e quando vi o nome da cor lembrei-me de a Nikki Tutorials o adorar way back when. É um gloss normal… não é peganhoso, tem mais brilho que pigmento e cheira bem.

E foi isto… Alguém se safou na primeira ida à NYX? Não tenho nada deles que considere um must, mas também ainda não experimente assim assim tantos produtos deles. Acho que os próximos vão ser os Lingerie =)

And this was it… Anyone got lucky on their first NYX trip? I don’t own anything from them that I find a must, but I haven’t tried that many products. I think that the next thing from this brand that I’ll buy is the Lingerie =)

Eu já falei desta marca no início do ano, quando comprei uns kits de natal para peles secas a sensíveis (aqui!). Adorei os produtos e fiquei fan da marca americana. Claro está, eu tinha que experimentar mais qualquer coisa, e é isso que fiz! Hoje vou vos mostrar a linha para peles oleosas, chamada Skin Rescue, e posso vos contar que fiquei ainda mais viciada, se é que isso é possível.

Comprei o Skin Rescue Trio por cerca de 21€ na BeautyBay perto da pascoa, e ficou a ganhar pó, a até pouco tempo. Depois de uma semana a testar um BB Cream horrível (que ainda nem sei se merece post ou não), tive mesmo que procurar ajuda extra para combater as borbulhinhas, e foi aí que surgiu a oportunidade de testar estes produtos.

I’ve talked about this brand on the beginning of the year when I got the Christmas sets for dry and sensitive skins. I loved the products and I became a big fan of this american brand. So this time I’ll show you the range for oily skins, called Skin Rescue, and I can tell that I became even more addicted, if that is even possible.

I got the Skin Rescue Trio for about 21€ on BeautyBay around Easter, and it has been collecting dust until very recently. After a week testing an horrible BB Cream (that I don't even know if it deserves a post or not), I had to seek extra help to fight the new blemishes, and that was when the opportunity to test these products appeared.

Deep Cleanser with red Clay – Ele limpa a pele sem a deixar ressequida ou oleosa. É vermelho e tem um cheirinho super agradável. Não faz tanta espuma como eu gostava, mas é isso que o torna tão gentil, principalmente para peles em “stress”.

Deep Cleanser with red Clay – It cleans the skin without leaving it tight or oily. It’s red and it has a very pleasant scent. It doesn't ladder like I would want it to, but that is what makes it so gentle, specially for “stressed” skin.

Blemish Patrol Pads – No meu tempo de adolescente usava um super parecido da Clearasil que fazia mais mal do que bem. Mas este é algo de especial. Acredito que é este produto que me ajudou a combater as borbulhas tão rapidamente e já estou a contemplar comprar uma embalagem nova quando esta chegar ao fim. A marca recomenda o uso 2 vezes ao dia, mas eu aplico só à noite depois do cleanser, para não massacrar a pele. Ardeu nas primeiras utilizações, mas agora não sinto nada! Acordo sempre com a sele super macia e visivelmente mais uniforme.

BlemishPatrol Pads – When I was a teenager I used one just like it from Clearasil that did not help me at all. But this one is something special. I believe that this was the product that made my blemishes disappear so fast and I’m already contemplating getting a new tub when this one runs out. The brand recommends that we use 2 pads a day, but I just apply it at night after cleansing my face, so it’s not as harsh. It burned a little on the first times that I used it, but now I don't feel anything! I wake up every morning with baby soft skin.

Daily Face Cream – Um creme hidratante diário, sem óleo, perfeito para balançar qualquer tratamento de acne. Aplico-o de manha e noite e já tenho outro a caminho da minha casa. Entra na pele instantaneamente, hidrata sem me deixar gordurosa e não me causa qualquer reacção.

DailyFace Cream – an hydrating face cream, with no oil, perfect to balance any acne treatment. I apply it on the morning and at night, and I already have another one ordered. It sinks in instantly, moisturizes, it doesn't leave me greasy and it doesn’t cause any reaction on my skin.

Tenho pena da First Aid Beauty não existir nas nossas farmácias, pois é uma marca realmente boa. Se tiverem interesse nestes produtos podem dar uma olhadela na LookFantastic (mas olhem que os preços são muito inflacionados, procurem sempre um cupão de desconto), porque pelos vistos já não estão disponíveis na BeautyBay. Para além destes produtos recomendo imenso o balsamo de lábios! É TOP!

It's a shame that First Aid Beauty is not available on our pharmacies, because it really is a great brand. Apparently these particular ones are not available on BeautyBay at the moment. I also recommend that you try out the lip balm! It’s amazing!
